The Phone
It was my favourite part of the holiday. She was my favourite aunt; the only one, in fact, I would get to know. She is my favourite aunt. Why am I speaking in the past? I thought she was rich. She had a NIVEA cream smell and always used a teaspoon to curl her eyelashes. She always used a green eyeliner and she told me I could look cool.
She also told me she always wanted to learn English. Pero se peleó con mi mamá muchas veces, entonces hubo episodios en mi vida en la que desapareció. I got married in her yard. As an adult I realised she had had a teenage pregnancy & had suffered domestic violence for years. She still is. She cries everytime she sees me. It was in her house, now that I think about it, the last time I used a phone like this one.
My favourite kind of phone at my favourite aunty’s house. Thank you for bringing me that back.
