To Listen

There are audio versions of all the texts available. Simply click the audio player next to the corresponding section of the text on the website to hear the content read aloud.

Or just listen to the full audio on the SoundCloud album.

At the Glasgow Women's Library Exhibition, you can listen by dialling the corresponding numbers of the texts on old telephones.

To Read

As with other phone books, this book doesn’t need to be read from start to finish.

You can use the call guide to find specific works and authors or simply browse through the book or posts.

We also recommend listening to and looking at the typed text at the same time.

To Respond

We invite you to join us! In the following post, the Free Writing Guide, you’ll find tips, tools, and inspiration to help you start your writing journey, as well as information on how to submit your work to become part of this phone book.

The Free Writing Society was created to provide a welcoming, pressure-free space to explore writing and share our thoughts and words. We hope this project offers a similar space for you.
